NEW DEVELOPMENT - GREATER FLEXIBILITY
Deepcore Drilling has designed and developed a mobile drilling rig that can drill either underground or surface under both diesel or 1000 volt power. This rig consists of a 700 series feed frame with a rod handler powered by a LM-90 power pack. This combination is fitted to a versatile carrier which is designed to allow the drill to achieve any direction with no pinning to the face or ground required. With 360 degree flexibility, rod handling and no pinning required, mounted on a specifically designed carrier, Deepcore Drilling's flexibility and speed of moving between sites whether it be underground or surface under 5 km is identified as a major advantage over current standard machines.
RELIABILITY
Deepcore Drilling relies on Structure, Communication and Consistency; we use only Boart Longyear Drill rigs and genuine replacement parts. It has proven over time that in conjunction with a consistent maintenance programme, downtime is greatly reduced and the capital items will last if the necessary projected times for replacement are met.
DESIGN FEATURES
- Manual handling is consistently the major contributing factor to incidents, this simply has to be reduced, the main cause of injury in the Drilling Industry is rod handling.
With the rod handler mounted to the 700 Series feed frame it presents the rod to the offsider at the same angle every time for easy access for storage.
- Pinning the rig to the ground and the face prior to drilling is a common procedure in the underground environment. A rock drill is used to bore the holes and then a split set is driven into place to secure the rig into position, this procedure takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
The new track mounted rig requires no pinning; simply drive into position, dump the mast to the required angle against the face and drill.
- Mobility of the complete skid steer (Feed Frame, Rod Handler, Power Pack, 535 Water Pump) is the key to the success of the design.
The speed in which the track mounted drilling rigs can complete a move considering there is no need to pin either to the ground or the face is a considerable improvement on the current developments in the industry to date.
